Julie Crabtree-Pfannes studied textiles, fashion and embroidery at Mansfield College of Arts, in Nottinghamshire, England. She wound her way around the world before settling in Western Wisconsin. Her art is a developed textural stitched and painted landscapes utilized with the sewing machine free motion and drawing freely over the canvas with a needle and thread. She experiments with many embroidery art techniques and the use of various mediums, including hand dyed, distressed fabrics and threads. Nature and texture are all a part of her influences.
