Hardanger is a white-cotton embroidery art that has origins in the Dutch Renaissance era and was later embraced by Norwegian culture. The designs are very symmetric and geometric in structure and clearly have a repeating pattern. An attractive framing design is to mount the hardanger piece on a contrasting suede mat with a complimentary frame design that has just a hint of the suede mat color.
