Those Who Were Born Of The Waters
Honoring the Prairie Island Indian Community
We are honored to serve the Prairie Island Indian Community, located approximately 15 miles northwest of our Red Wing shop. We have been privileged to preserve several pieces of historical significance to the tribe.
The community proudly operates Treasure Island Resort and Casino, the largest employer in Goodhue County. This large gallery wrap will welcome hotel visitors. The inscription reads:
"The people of Prairie Island are descendants of the Mdewakanton Band of Eastern Dakota, also known as the Mississippi or Minnesota Sioux, who were parties to the treaties with the United States from 1805 to 1863."
Epic Icicle
The next few weeks' weather forecast looks to be a lot of thaw and freeze. This epic icicle from last season measured probably close to 6 feet. We are excited to see what this upcoming round of weather will bring. Stay tuned.
Happy new year!
Autumn's Latest Window Display: A New Shop Favorite
Autumn, our talented window artist, has created a stunning new display that's quickly becoming a favorite at our shop.
Happy 2017! We always feel a sense of relief when the holiday season wraps up. In our line of work, we don't get to enjoy the holidays much because we are so busy. But, being busy is truly a blessing. Here's to a busy and blessed 2017 for all of us!
Time lapse or worm hole?
This is a 'not quite' photo. Ideally I would have captured a nice blurred taillight of a few inches. But whatever. Nobody is perfect and either is this photograph.
The business of being in business...
Our Commitment to Excellence
Years ago, we made a pivotal decision to strive for the highest standards in our work. That became our business plan. In 2014, Valerie became the first Master Certified Picture Framer (MCPF) in Minnesota. This achievement was a significant milestone for us and has opened up many opportunities.
Valerie has continued to make valuable contributions to the framing industry, and this January, she will compete in a national framing competition in Las Vegas. These efforts drive us to continually improve our skills and services.
This is just the beginning of our journey towards excellence.
Why creativity matters
"Enculturation", 2012 by Cynthia Weitzel. Your creativity will outlive you and nobody is getting out of this life alive. That is a certainty and if you can accept that, then maybe you will ponder this: since you are not going to be around, how will you be remembered?
